The LCMS National Housing Support Corporation (NHSC) boasts 100s … even 1,000s … of friends across the country who are helping us spread the news about the work of NHSC. The past couple of years that number has grown exponentially as the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) joined forces with NHSC to help extend our Helping Hand Initiative.
The mission grant was important in making sure NHSC could move this initiative from a pilot program to a key national initiative designed to provide another way that congregations can use housing ministry to reach the communities of which they are a part. The $100,000 investment helped NHSC expand the initiative to additional communities in Illinois and Nebraska.
Even more critically was the opportunity to tell the story of housing ministry to and through an impressive network of faithful people of God dedicated to expanding the mission of the church. The LWML enables women to use gifts in ministry to the people of the world, which is another way to speak about the work of NHSC, working with congregations to use their gifts in ministry to the people in their communities and neighborhoods.
Thanks to the LWML again! This summer they highlighted the Helping Hand Initiative in the summer edition of the LWML Quarterly read by thousands of women across the country. Read it for yourself, and be sure to share the news with your friends and family.
