WHEN SOME LOOK AT NEIGHBORHOODS experiencing physical and economic decline, they see places that have little hope for the future. When others see abandoned and collapsing properties, they see opportunities for economic renewal. Some meet residents and see partners for neighborhood transformation.

When the people of the LCMS National Housing Support Corporation (NHSC) see these same neighborhoods, we first see a place for God’s work; people who have been redeemed through Christ’s work.

That’s the NHSC difference.

While community development professionals can be found in local communities, we begin from a different place and have a unique set of priorities. Our collective expertise and experience includes a variety of work with for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. But our ultimate goal is Word and Sacrament ministry, strengthening the neighborhoods where our LCMS congregations and organizations are already present and active.

We do need your help spreading the word about NHSC and our ministry. When you read a story in this newsletter, share the news with a member of a congregation situated in the middle of a distressed community. When you are inspired by a story of a homeowner or congregation, tell a friend or invite your pastor to learn more.

On Facebook? Be sure to “like” our page (www.facebook.com/LutheranHousingSupport) and then share at least one post on your newsfeed. Tell your pastor and congregation leaders about the Thrivent Foundation Challenge Grant and how the impact of your mission funds (or donations from members) will increase by 50% if the gift is made before the end of the year.

Most importantly, please keep this ministry, our partners and the communities we serve in your fervent prayers!

In Christ’s Service,

Nicole Ridley

Chief Executive

LCMS National Housing Support Corporation
