After several years of work and a careful search, LCMS National Housing Support Corporation (NHSC) has selected CED-Solutions as lead consultants in its efforts to prepare a Comprehensive Community Development Plan for the North St. Louis (Missouri) neighborhood of College Hill.

Responding to the numerous challenges facing their community, a group of College Hill residents joined with the LCMS National Housing Support Corporation (NHSC) in 2007 to begin work on revitalizing this historic neighborhood. Together, NHSC and this growing group of residents have developed a viable revitalization plan for College Hill and successfully implemented numerous community improvements – such as community gardens, providing recreational and enrichment opportunities to residents, and enacting crime reduction programs. Altogether, this coalition has attracted nearly $4.5 million in direct and indirect investment to the College Hill community in the last ten years.

CED-Solutions is a national economic development consulting firm that serves communities, businesses and not-for-profits, helping clients develop and implement community and economic development projects that advance their strategic priorities and produce concrete, measurable results. Their vision is to leverage our collective experience in economic development to assist a wide variety of clients develop, fund and deliver projects to build better communities.

CED-Solutions will partner with the i5 Group which will provide expertise in urban and community planning and landscape architecture for the project.

NHSC, College Hill residents and other public, private and non-profit stakeholders will work with CED-Solutions and the i5 Group to draft this comprehensive neighborhood plan. The plan will take into account both the residents’ vision, as outlined in the concept plan from 2007, and the recent work that has been completed in the community. Working from this joint vision, the plan will outline a series of priorities which will guide future work in the community in terms of housing options, economic resources, community and civic spaces, and the like.

Work will begin in the last weeks of the year, and the first part of January. Before long a plan for the future will begin to take shape!
