Introduction to Community Development
Learn the basics of community development work and how the LCMS National Housing Support Corporation assists LCMS entities and their partners with such projects across the country. This course offers insight in the basic tools and resources available for organizations interested in becoming involved in neighborhood revitalization efforts. It also provides an introduction to the terms and concepts related to the field. The webinar runs for about an hour with a “question and answer” session following the general presentation.
Introduction to Fundraising for Community Development Projects
I have a project, but how do I think about getting it funded? Where do I even start? This primer course answers these two broad questions with a general overview of the fundraising process and past funding models employed by congregations and neighborhood groups to conduct community development work. Through this webinar, you will learn how to get started with understanding the fundraising needs of your project, researching funding opportunities, and identifying potential prospects for support.
Incorporating Fundraising Considerations into Project Development and Design

What types of information do funders look for when deciding whether to support a program? How you plan out and structure your project is important. Institutional funders require certain levels of detail in regards to timelines, project infrastructure, and evaluation practices before they will consider supporting a project. This webinar focuses on teaching participants some basic lessons about common project infrastructure that will aid in writing fundraising appeals.
Identifying and Approaching Funders for Community Development Work

How do we go about funding our community development project? This webinar is focused on the process of researching, identifying, and soliciting support for a community development project. Through this training module, you will learn what resources are available to obtain information on funding sources and how to research support opportunities. The module also describes processes that can be used to winnow down lists of potential supporters and how to approach potential supporters.
